Donating

British Pound Notes

Thank you for being here! The donations we receive, however large or small, are vital in helping us reduce isolation and loneliness for some of the most vulnerable people across our local community.

Without your generosity we couldn’t do what we do – you really can make a difference.

Please donate via the DONATE button here and at the top of every page. Any contribution is very gratefully received, whether that be a one-off donation or a regular amount, and all donations raised help towards keeping our door open.

In addition, here are some ideas how you could support us and, in turn, help some of the most vulnerable people in our community:

Bicycle Repair Shop

Many businesses choose a charity, either for a fixed term, or for a one off event.  The Open Door has had various businesses working with us, including The Royal Bank of Scotland from whom we benefited from the money raised during Pedal for Scotland; Trustee Savings Bank who held a charity Christmas Market for us; Castle Terrace Restaurant who donated a proportion of their takings during one month.  If your business would be interested in choosing us, please Contact Us

Signing a Contract

Leaving us a legacy is a wonderful way to support our work well into the future. Whether you are someone who has directly used our services; are a relative or friend of someone who has; or are a supporter of our work in the local community, offering legacy funding is a truly generous act.  Visit our Legacies page for more details.

Marathon Runners

Are you planning to run a marathon, skydive from a plane or possibly do something more sedate like organise a bake sale…? Nominate The Open Door as your partner in whatever venture you fancy, and make a difference to the lives of so many vulnerable elderly people in our local community.  Contact Us to discuss.

Paying Customer

On the tables in our café you will find a card with the words “Pay it Forward”. Using this you can donate over the counter when you pay your bill. Simply tick an item on the card, eg a meal for one of our Friendship Club members, add the amount to your bill and it will go to the particular item you’ve selected.

Knitted Dolls

From time to time we have items on sale in Peggy's Café.  It might be home made marmalade, or artwork, or knitted goods.  Sometimes The Open Door gets the whole proceeds, sometimes it's a proportion, but it all helps to pay for our services.  As well as buying from our shelves, do you have a product you could offer for sale?  Contact Us to discuss.

British Pound Coins

Why do the National Lottery when you have a better chance to win with our own 200 Club?  You can purchase one or more numbers between 1 and 200 for £2 a month each. One number is drawn every month and wins a prize of  25% of the proceeds, with a Christmas Double in December.
